Sock Hop Radio presents

Fifty years
behind the mic.

The story of Vic Dubois, and the station he built so the music never has to sign off.

A vintage radio control room, warm tuning dials glowing, a microphone hanging over a desk stacked with 45s

The beginning

A kid, a stack of records, a red light.

Vic starts out as a DJ in British Columbia. Then another BC station. Then two in Alberta. Different call letters, same seat: behind a microphone, playing records for whoever is out there in the dark.

A red-lit radio tower in a prairie wheat field at dusk, a grain elevator small on the horizon

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Twenty-four years running the shop.

General Manager at Saskatoon Media Group: two FM stations and one AM. The title came with an office, but Vic kept finding his way back to the booth,

because that's where it was always the most fun.

A packed 1950s sock hop, couples twisting on a gym floor under paper streamers while a band plays on stage

Sunday nights on 98Cool-FM

The Sunday Sockhop.

Four hours of the music he grew up with, every Sunday, for twenty-four years. Original rock & roll and doo-wop, the records that once filled gym floors just like this one.

December 31, 2025.

After twenty-four years, the Sunday Sockhop signs off for the last time. Then the notes start coming in. They all ask the same thing.

From the listeners

Where do we go for this now?

Hands flipping through a wooden crate of 45 rpm singles in handwritten paper sleeves

The answer

Sock Hop Radio.

No last show coming, ever. Records pulled by hand from Vic's own collection: the 1950s, 60s and 70s, with the heart in original rock & roll and doo-wop. His rule is simple:

If it sounds good, it goes on the air.

A small home studio at night, a microphone on a boom arm under a warm desk lamp, shelves of records behind
Sock Hop Radio logo: a spinning 45 with a bobby sock

On the air. Right now.

Twisting through the classics
